Hannah Waddingham Stuns in Self Portrait at SAG-AFTRA Career Retrospective

The SAG-AFTRA recently presented Hannah Waddingham with a career retrospective in recognition of her 20-year career as an actress, singer, and TV presenter. She is most notably known for her role as Rebecca Welton in the sports comedy-drama Ted Lasso, for which she has won several accolades, including an SAG, a Critics Choice, and an Emmy.

Wearing a striking red cardigan and skirt co-ord, the 49-year-old actress made an impression at the event held in her honor at The SAG-AFTRA Foundation Robin Williams Center in New York City.

Though she’s currently busy promoting her next action-comedy movie, The Fall Guy, starring Barbie’s Ryan Gosling and Oppenheimer’s Emily Blunt, Waddingham was giving Ted Lasso’s Rebecca Welton in her red knit Self Portrait outfit. Her naturally elegant, poised, and confident aura had me enamored.

Elegant Style and Sophisticated Fashion Choices

While Self-Portrait is well-loved for its contemporary silhouettes, Waddingham’s ensemble has a classic feel that perfectly encapsulates the actress’ sophisticated style.

The outfit, which is from the London-based label’s Resort 2024 collection, consists of a $555 red knit cardigan with a cleavage-baring V-neckline and a flattering cropped cut and a matching $380 red knit midi pencil skirt with a high waist and a sculpted fit.

I adore the ensemble’s girl-boss vibe and how it highlights Waddingham’s curves. However, the gold beads that trim the pockets and center front don’t appeal to me. These decorations, except for the crystal and pearl flower-shaped ornaments, feel too festive… or more like giving a post-holiday vibe.

With the help of her trusted stylist, James Yardley, Waddingham kept a coordinated appearance by securing a pair of large gold hoop earrings on her ears and adorning her white French-manicured hands with a couple of gold rings.

Hannah wore metallic gold Christian Louboutin sandals to accentuate her red pedicure and add a flirtatious touch to her classic two-piece skirt suit.

These sandals, designed with crisscross front straps, a slingback strap, and about 5-inch stiletto heels, further enhanced her impressive 5’11” frame. I like how well the ensemble is put together, but again, it’s just too festive for my taste.

Adding to the look’s vintage appeal, Waddingham fashioned her signature short, platinum blonde hair in tousled waves with a deep side part.

She then wore soft pink lipstick and blush, accentuating her blue eyes with fluttery eyelashes and eyeliner.

A Stylish Appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert

Earlier in the day, Hannah Waddingham dropped by The Late Show with Stephen Colbert to discuss her upcoming film, The Fall Guy.

She wore a black ensemble from British lingerie label Agent Provocateur for her TV appearance.

As you can tell, I love this look more than the red ensemble she wore to her career retrospective. At first glance, it might appear to be a sleek, sleeveless black dress, but it’s actually composed of two separate pieces: the “Julietta” waistcoat, priced at $820, and its coordinating pencil skirt, costing $540. Together, they create a seamlessly elegant appearance.

The fitted bustier-style top gives off a femme-fatale vibe with Leavers lace details peeking out from the low-cut neckline. It also has silk lapels and lining, decorative tonal front buttons, faux pockets, and princess seams that flatter her figure.

I’m captivated by how the pencil skirt adds a layer of sophistication while invoking a sense of sensuality. It elegantly embraces every contour of Waddingham’s hourglass figure, further accentuated by the delicate cut-away Leavers lace scallop trims along the side seams, adding an exquisite detail to the ensemble.

It comes with silk satin faux pockets, a silk satin waistband, a risque front slit, and a back vent for a comfortable stride.

I appreciate Waddingham’s choice of footwear—a pair of black pointed-toe slingback pumps—as they added to the ensemble’s elegance.

The Fall Guy: A Romantic Take on the 1980s Action-Adventure Series

The Fall Guy (2024) is an action-packed movie entwined with romance and comedy. It focuses on stuntman Colt Seavers (Ryan Gosling), who doubles for top movie actor Tom Ryder (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) and dates aspiring director Jody Moreno (Emily Blunt).

After a stunt goes wrong, Colt leaves the industry and ghosts Jody. Eighteen months later, the former stuntman is now working as a valet for a Mexican restaurant, while his former flame is set to make her directorial debut in a sci-fi movie starring Ryder.

Gail Meyer (Hannah Waddingham), the film’s desperate executive producer, forces Colt to return to work. He takes off for Sydney and arrives to discover that Tom has disappeared, putting the movie in danger of being canceled. To save Jody’s film, he is forced to find Tom.

The Fall Guy is directed by David Leitch and written by Drew Pearce, and it is based on the 1980s TV series of the same name. It premiered at SXSW on March 12 and is set to be released in US theaters on May 3.
